The political discourse on discrimination  –  how to use natural language processing for good

From 6th to 8th November, this year’s edition of CorrelCon, a conference for everyone interested in leveraging data for social good, took place online. The conference, which was hosted by CorrelAid, offered a broad spectrum of exciting talks: From sessions suited to NPOs to learn how they can use their data to support their missions, through case studies and introductory workshops, up to more technical talks focusing on machine learning models, data engineering and data visualization – there was something for everybody.

One of these technical presentations showed our work in the Open Discourse project. This project aims at making the speeches held in the German Bundestag accessible for the general public. Our contribution lies in analyzing these speeches by applying several methods from natural language processing.
